Fly Fishing 101

For 2024

A two-session class covering all the basics needed to get
launched on your fly fishing career. Don’t miss either one.

Our class on Fly Fishing 101 will be held at the GBF clubhouse at the end of Douglas Blvd. in Granite Bay. John Peterson and Jim Holmes will conduct the class. Start time is 6:00 PM and will go until about 9 each of two nights. Both nights are required as different material is covered.

In this class, we’ll cover the basics of fly fishing including:

  • Major fly fishing equipment.
  • Knots.
  • Casting (at the beginning of each class).
  • Other equipment.
  • Still water fish and equipment.
  • Trout and bass/panfish food and flies.
  • Fishing strategies.
  • And much, much more!

There will be a $10.00 cost to cover the printing a 30 page manual for your use.
