November’s Monthly Program
The Relapse of a Flyfishing Addict
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
Our speaker this month is Dave Shafer, who will take you through the ups and downs of being addicted to flyfishing. To the highest of highs, to the lowest of lows and the many people and experiences that brought me there and back again.
Dave’s Bio: I started fly fishing 1991 on the rivers of the central California valley. From then on, all my spare time was spent flyfishing. I was truly addicted to catching trout since I was 5 years old, but the magic of feather and thread was a game changer. I Could not get enough. I was fishing somewhere around 40-50 days a year. In 1995 I started guiding the Upper Sacramento River, McCloud River, Pit River, Lower Yuba, and Lower Sac. This all lead me on a journey where I was teaching, traveling, and guiding hundreds of people a year. So many things and so many people had aligned perfectly at the precise right time where I was living the perfect dream life. Then suddenly, I was done. Lost in the wilderness sort of speak. I went many years without evening touching a fly rod. Now, many years later, I’m back!
